Step into Spring- Spring Lookbook

Today I have a spring lookbook for you. Since the weather is beginning to change for us, I have a few outfit ideas for you. These are a mixture of outfits for both casual and formal occasions.

So the first outfit I've picked out is featured above. I paired this cropped, green, sweatshirt style jumper with some white jeans, to keep it looking bright and fresh for spring. I wore a long necklace with a large green and turquoise jewel on the end, which is fairly simple but dresses up the top a little. I also accessorised with some lime and blue bracelets and my pearl earrings. For shoes, I opted for cream boots with a zip on the inside, that appear loosely laced up, and I kept my hair down

Spring is great for wearing slightly more summery clothes, but not going all out with strappy vest tops and shorts yet. I choose this stripy, purple toned sleeveless jumper with a roll neck. I wore dark blue, denim skinny jeans and the same boots that I wore in the previous look, which I think go really well to tone in with the brown faux leather jacket I wore. I chose to wear long earrings, but kept my accessories to a minimum, only adding some rings. I pulled my hair up into a ponytail to complete this look.

The third look is very minimalist, pairing a black cropped bralet-style top with minor detailing with black leggings, and my black, buckled boots. I chose to add a splash of colour by wearing my denim shirt undone to keep the look very casual, but still a little vibrant for spring. Again, I kept my accessories to a minimum with some gold hoop earrings, and put my hair into a messy top-knot.

The final look is definitely the most formal, and would be perfect for a party, although it's also wearable during the day too. I wore this black and white striped dress, with a slight skater dress style, and kept warm by wearing sheer black tights and my grey wool coat. I used light, but pretty accessories, opting for my pearl earrings (not visible in these pictures), two silver rings, and a silver diamante bangle. I wore black, lacy ballet pumps on my feet and kept my hair down with just a little gripped back.

I hope you liked this post and maybe got some outfit inspiration from it. Comment down below your favourite look, and follow my blog if you'd like to see my future posts!

For now, bye x

Love Me Beauty

Last Sunday, I bought my first ever beauty box from Love Me Beauty, and I love the idea so much that I thought I would share it with you.

Similarly to many box-subscription services, you can subscribe to beauty box companies in many different packages, and they will send you, generally monthly, a box filled with makeup, hair, skincare and other products. However, what makes Love Me Beauty a little bit different, is that you are able to pick out from a range of products, up to a certain number of 'credits' (explained later), so you know that you'll love what you receive. This particularly appealed to me, as it's the excitement of new products, whilst knowing you'll love them all.

When you sign up to Love Me Beauty, they ask you to fill out a quick user profile made up of features such as your age range, hair and skin type. This enables them to pick out 'recommendations' of products, that you can choose for your box- however, you can also pick out from the regularly changing boutique, if you'd like something different to the products they suggest.

Products cost 10 or 20 credits, and if like me you get the one month deal (which is a great way to see if you enjoy the service, and then you can pick out a more long term deal), you can pick out items that cost up to 60 credits. You are also able to pay a small price for extra credits, and there are several options for these, each increasing with price depending on how many extra credits you buy, so you can pick out the one that best suits you. This means, if there are loads of products you want to try, you are able to.

I picked out 4 products:

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil
MONU Hydrating Face Mask
Eye of Horus Bronze Amulet Goddess Pencil
Lanolips 101 Ointment

I have left a link to their website below, I recommend you check it out as it's such a great concept, which I absolutely love!

These products are all brilliant, and considering the amazing price on 13.95 including P&P, I think it's incredible that you are able to receive a box from this company worth £40 or more! This is the perfect way to try out new products, and since Love Me Beauty only teams up with brands that produce the highest quality products, it's well worth the money! Let me know in the comments if you've ever tried out a Love Me Beauty Box, or if this post has interested you- and also if you'd like a review of any of the products I received!

Bringing Back Childhood

Colouring books. A childhood favourite that never seems to grow old from generation to generation. I can remember starting out with the simpler designs, with the really thick lines and basic pictures of flowers and butterflies. I was never one to draw out the lines by the time I'd moved on to more complicated designs, and I loved spending ages filling in the pictures to perfection.

Recently, adult colouring books have become a trend and every book and stationery shop you go to seems to have a wide range of these books available, ranging in theme and price. Not only do they bring memories of childhood fun, but they have become known for helping relaxation and mindfulness, something that I think we can all benefit from in this fast-paced world.

I bought myself The Mindfulness Colouring Book, which is made up of patterns simply for relaxing, and the Vogue Colouring Book, a beautiful book filled with complex designs inspired by Vogue magazines from decades such as the 50's. I love this so much as it's just such a unique and original idea. Both are available in bookstores such as WH Smith and Waterstones and online, so you can do some searching to find the best price- and a quick look online will show you the range in choices that appeal to everyone. I think these are lovely to relax and wind-down and I also think they would make great presents.

Kiwi and Banana Smoothie Recipe

Smoothies are a really quick and easy way to make a super healthy but delicious snack. They take barely any time to make, and keep all the nutrients as you simply blend the entire fruit. Smoothies are basically a really refreshing, fun way to enjoy a fruit salad!

So, with that said, today I have a kiwi and banana smoothie recipe for you! I love this smoothie as it's really sweet and refreshing, but it also gives me a boost of energy at the end of the day before settling down for my exam studies.

2 kiwis
1 banana
Orange juice- depending on how thick you want the smoothie add up to about 150ml (3/4 of a small single carton drink)
A splash of water

  • Peel and chop up the bananas, and put them into your blender, or into the plastic container if you have one of the hand-held blenders like me.
  • Add the orange juice. If you're not a fan of orange juice then you can switch this out for your preference, and water will probably work too. If you like a thicker smoothie, then opt for less juice, but I find that about 3/4 of a single 200ml carton is the perfect amount- and you can drink what's left!
  • Add just a tad of water if you want to dilute the juice a little.
  • Blend the ingredients and enjoy!

Let me know in the comments if you decide to make this drink or if you have any other great smoothie recipes as I'd love to try some more!

Barry M Lip Crayon//Review

Today I have a review of the Barry M Lip Crayon in Dress Rehearsal for you. I bought this product
about a month ago and I just can't stop using it! Although it is matte, it isn't at all drying on the lips, which is really good for me, as I seem to be prone to getting dry lips. I'd actually say it feels quite moisturising, although it doesn't actually give the lips any hydration. As the packaging says, it has a creamy texture, and it is so good I would put it up there with some high end lip products, I love it so much! It twists up, so there is lots of product and no need for a sharpener. It feels light on the lips, and isn't sticky, which is always a plus for me when buying products.

This beautiful, pinky-nude is shown in the image above. It has a matte appearance on the lips, but can look glossier if applied directly over a lip balm, and of course, you could always add a gloss over the top. It may appear quite dark in this photo, but on the lips it is subtly darker and I would definitely classify it as a 'natural' lip colour. I will definitely be buying the other shades in the line, but I think this is the perfect shade to start out with because it is such a natural colour, so you can wear it on a day-to-day basis. If you'd prefer a different shade the other available colours are- Pack a Punch, a natural pink, On the Frow, a peach shade, Model Behaviour, fuchsia pink and Make a Statement, a beautiful red.

2015 Favourites

We may be over halfway through January, but 2015 was not that long ago, so it's time to kick-start the year with my 2015 favourites post! Below are a range of products and items that I have been loving throughout 2015 that I wanted to share with you guys!

The MAC 217 brush is absolutely incredible for applying base colours, adding shades to the crease and blending. It's a great all-round shadow brush, and I will probably purchase more of these. The Real Techniques Multi-Tasking brush is great for exactly that- multi-tasking. I personally think it's the perfect size for blush, but it would also be great for powder or bronzer.

Some of my top makeup items this year are above. I bought Rockateur in April, and I've seriously hit pan on it, I love it so much, and I will definitely be repurchasing it- it's a universal shade that would suit everybody. I also love the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, which I'm sure you've all heard of, but I am on my 4th or 5th bottle this year, that's how much I love it! Finally, I really like the Rimmel Brow This Way brow gel. This was a fairly new purchase, but I've used it everyday since I bought it and I don't need any other brow products when I use this.

I wanted to make a separate lip product section, because I have 3 top products. The Babylips Lip Balm is great, I'm quite fussy about lip balms, but I happily apply this throughout the day. My favourite high-end lip product this year has to be MAC Fanfare lipstick, because it's a really nice pink colour that looks fairly natural but adds a hint of colour. I am also in love with Barry M's Matte Me Up Lip Crayon, it is the perfect nude and even though it's matte, it doesn't feel drying on the lips and is really creamy. I find it actually feels high-end, I will definitely re-purchase this when it runs out.

My top hair 'item' of the year is definitely my Cloud 9 C9 Touch straighteners, I've got so much use out of them, but especially this year as I've also learnt how to curl my hair using straighteners, which is so much easier as my hair is so long and thick.

My favourite music this year has been One Direction's fifth album, this album has a great mixture of music and I think everyone will enjoy it- there is a much more mature sound on this album than there is on older albums from the band. Read my blog post on the album here, where I go into much more detail: Magenta Tulip//Made In The A.M. Album Review

Coyote Ugly is not a very recent film, but I have watched this several times in 2015, and although it is a super light-hearted, kind of cheesy plot line, I love the characters, the relationship and the conclusion to the story.

I've loved Tanya's book, 'Love, Tanya' this year, it's a great mixture of auto-biographical story-telling, and life-advice for everything from love to baking to making the most out of life! Tanya is such a cheery person, I can just hear her voice reading the book, and it just makes me feel so positive.

Another book I've been loving (but couldn't add a picture of as I read most books on my Kindle) is The Kissing Booth by Beth Reekles. A typical chick-lit, but with a nice story line that has it's ups and downs and leaves you wondering what will happen next. The characters are varied and it captures their lives perfectly- and Beth was only 17 when she wrote it! I have read this book many times, and in 2015 I probably read it around 3 times. Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like books about teens, romance, friendship, or that focus on realism, then I would recommend giving it a go.

I wanted to include my Osprey purse in my favourites, simply because I picked this up in TK Maxx reduced to just £25. It is such a good-quality purse and I know it will last me a long time, and using it just makes me so happy because it's something I'd wanted for a while before purchasing it.

Finally, figure skating became a huge part of my life in 2015. I went ice skating for the third time in May (the previous times I had been under 10 years old on temporary rinks), and now in January, I have made my way through the 8 basic levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold, and I'm now working on NISA Level 1 (out of 10!). This is a huge achievement for me and I love skating so much, and I hope that this can maybe help someone reading this reach for their goals in whatever they love! I can't wait to see what skating brings for me in 2016!

I also just want to give my favourite youtubers (who you may well have heard of) a mention, LucyandLydia. They have a blog and youtube channel (linked below) and are twins who always brighten my day whenever I watch their videos!

I hope you enjoyed this post! I'm hoping to keep up with my blogging in this new year, as a way to escape all the exam stress in my life right now!
