5-Minute Hairstyle

Hi everyone! How are you? Earlier today I was just trying out some new hairstyles, when I did this one and really liked it.

It's a messy half up do, and I think it's perfect when you're in a hurry, and don't have much time to do your hair, but you want to look nice. It's also good if your hair is a bit dirty as it hides that a bit. I'd recommend doing this with at least 1 day old hair, as your hair will be easier to style. You could tie a ribbon or scrunchy around it as well if you want to change it up a bit! If you'd like a tutorial, let me know in the comments!

Sleek Blush By 3- Trio Palette- Lace 367- Review

Hello! How are you all? It's half-term for me, and it's been so nice relaxing after 6 weeks of school since Christmas, not to mention exams and revision!

I want to talk to you today about Sleek's Blush By 3 palette in Lace, because ever since I bought it I've been obsessed with how gorgeous the colours are!

(Left to right: Chantilly, Guipure, Crochet)

Sleek have 8 different palettes available to buy- most of these are powder only, although I know that Pink Lemonade has 1 cream blush, and Californ.I.A consists entirely of cream blushes (and just so you know- my mum has this palette and it's gorgeous, it's the next one I want to buy!)

Lace has 3 stunning, and highly pigmented colours: Chantilly (a peachy-orange shade), Guipure (the only shimmer formulation in this palette- a pretty pale pink with gold shimmer and undertones) and Crochet (a brighter, darker, more fuchsia toned pink). I love this palette as the colours are very versatile, as it's easy to not only build up the colour to be more vibrant, but the variety of shades within the one palette means you have different colours to complement different looks.

My personal favourites are Chantilly and Guipure because they look so natural on the skin and just give you a pretty, healthy glow. I do like Crochet, but I find it harder to apply as it's the most pigmented and it's easy to apply too much. That said, all these colours are very good quality, and I do use them all.

Guipure is actually very similar to the single blush, Rose Gold, by Sleek, so if you only want that colour, I'd recommend you give that product a try!

Price: Very good, at £9.99 from Boots, this product is totally worth it. Keep in mind that you're getting 3 blushers, so technically you are paying for £3.33 for each one.

Packaging: The outer box of the product shows crushed up blushers, so you get an idea of the 3 shades, and when you actually get the palette out, it has a matte black packaging, with Sleek's logo in shiny writing on the outside. I really like it as it looks classy. It's also easy to open the palette, but having said that, when you snap the lid shut, it clips down and feels securely closed.

Range: There are 8 different palettes depending on your preference, and they are all pretty varied so you could always buy more than one, and not have repeated shades.

Quality: These blushes are such good quality, as I've already said, the colours are really pigmented and I personally find that they last on my face for the whole day, unlike some other blushers that I have tried that seem to disappear after a few hours.

Availability: You can buy these blushers from Boots, Superdrug or the Sleek website. My Superdrug is quite small and doesn't stock Sleek, so I bought it from Boots. If your local Boots is small, they may not stock some or all of these palettes.

Ease of use: Because the colours have such great pigmentation, they can be applied really easily. The only warning I would give, is that you really don't need much on your brush, otherwise you might end up looking bright red, which isn't so pretty!

So what do you think? Do you want to try this out? Let me know in the comments below if you do!

Valentine's Look

Today is Valentine's Day, so I thought I would share a look that would be really pretty if you're looking for something a little bit different to do with your makeup. I think this look is perfect for going out on date, or even just out with friends. It would also be really pretty for anytime, so I thought I would share it with you. It turned out to be a really pretty pink and purple toned smokey eye, with a nude lip to keep it looking neutral and balanced.

Firstly I prepped my skin with moisturiser and eye cream. I then applied Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and set my makeup with powder. I avoid foundation because I prefer my skin without it most of the time and it keeps the look super natural. I then swept a Sleek blush from the Lace palette in Guipure. For my eyes, I used the Next Pink palette (which is actually really good quality considering Next isn't a makeup specialist!)  and applied a pink shade across my whole lid and then blended an ashy purple in my crease. This palette may have been limited edition, but the colours are really pink toned with a few greys and silvers, so palettes with those tones are perfect. I used a liquid liner pen to draw a thin line over my upper lash line and blended some liner along my lower lash line. I finished the look with mascara and applied MUA Nude Lipstick in Shade 14 'Bare'.

Of course, you could always change it up, by using a much more pigmented blush or a bright red or pink lipstick, but for Valentine's, I thought this looked really understated.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mini Haul- I bought some makeup!

I went into town on Saturday... originally because my dad wanted to get something and I needed a concealer. Not surprisingly, I bought more than just my concealer. I actually did only buy 4 things, but I thought I would share them with you.

First I headed over to Boots to buy my concealer. I love Boots, because it has such a variety of counters from drugstore to high end and I nearly always find the things that I'm looking for in there!

I bought another Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I'm sure lots of you know how amazing this concealer is, I think I've probably talked about it before! It has a nice coverage without looking cakey, and really helps cover and brighten dark circles.

The other thing I bought was a Sleek blush. I recently bought a Sleek Blush-By-Three trio, in Lace, and it has a really gorgeous shimmery colour in the palette. I saw that Sleek also do single blushes, and they has this lovely single blush pictured above. As you can see, it has a nice sheen to it, and is a lovely pink colour with gold undertones. This blush is called Rose Gold.

I then headed over to Superdrug, My favourite counter in Superdrug is MUA, as they do makeup at such great prices, and lots of it is good quality.

I bought these really pretty lipsticks in Superdrug. MUA lipsticks are £1, and they are actually good quality for that price. I really like the red colour, and although I won't be wearing it all the time, I really wanted to buy a cheap red lipstick to see how the colour looked on me, and I actually really liked it!

The other shade is actually lighter than it looks in the photo. It is a really pretty peach shade. I don't really have any lip colours like this, and I thought I would try it out. I have to say, it did bleed into the small lines on my lips, which was a shame, but I don't think it was too noticeable, especially with darker colours like red.

Here are some swatches. The colour on the left is Shade 13 and the colour on the right is Shade 16 (Nectar).

MUA also has really cool packaging. The lid feels fairly secure on the lipstick, and another really nice thing about the MUA lipsticks is that you get some extra lipstick in the pot at the end of it. This is perfect if you like to use a lip brush to apply your lipstick. It also means that when you look at the colours in the shop, it gives a much more true-to-colour preview.

Where you can buy:

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer- Boots- £3.99 (on offer- originally £4.19)

Sleek Blush in Rose Gold- £4.49- Boots (display picture is not Rose Gold)
(or buy Sleek Blush from Sleek website here)

Shade 16 Nectar Lipstick- £1.00- Superdrug

Shade 13 Lipstick- £1.00- Superdrug
(Shade 13 looks darker on the website than it is in real life)

I hope you enjoyed this post. Why not tell me down below what your favourite lipstick is?

Create the look: A Bobbi Brown Makeover

Hello! I was reading through the Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules book I have, and I found a gorgeous makeup look that I really wanted to try out. It has a defined eye, but is fresh and pretty, so I thought I'd give it a go and show you the results.

(please note that I do not own this picture, however it is a photo from the book Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules- which I do own a copy of- and I photographed it to post on my blog)

What I used

The Look:

The first thing I did was use my Baby Lips Hydrate lipbalm to moisturise my lips.  I then took my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer to brighten up under my eyes, and I also used my No7 Match Made Concealer stick in Calico to cover up any red areas on my face. I used my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to blend this.

The next step is to use a blush. I used Crochet from my Sleek blush trio, which is warm, coral toned fuchsia pink.  Focus the blush on the apples of your cheeks, as this is the fleshiest part of your face. Your blush should make you look pretty and healthy.

I then filled in my eyebrows. I used some eyebrow powder from my MUA Pro Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit and my Ecotools Eyeliner Brush to fill in the front parts of my eyebrows where they aren't as thick.

I took a coppery gold eyeshadow from my E.l.f Little Black Beauty Book Warm Edition (from TKMaxx), and dusted it over my eyelids using my Sue Moxley Eyeshadow brush.

The main focus of this look is the defined eyes. You'll probably want a gel or liquid liner for this kind of precision- I used Seventeen's Make Your Mark Eyeliner Pen.

To finish off the eyes, choose a mascara that you like and apply 1 or 2 coats. I used Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara.

Finally, you'll want a clear shimmery lipgloss. I used the Bobbi Brown Crystal Glitter Lipgloss, which I am in love with! It is a little sticky, but that makes it last, and it's so pretty that I honestly don't mind.

I have green eyes and paler skin than the model, but I tried my best to recreate it. I really like how it came out and would definitely wear this again.

The camera hasn't picked up the glitter in the gloss, but it looked very similar to the picture in real life!

The Products and Tools:

Real Techniques Core Collection Set (for the Contour and Buffing brushes)
Sue Moxley Brush Roll (contains the eyeshadow brush)- I bought this on eBay, but I couldn't find a link to it. I looked everywhere but it wasn't in stock anywhere.
Sleek Blush by Three (in Lace 367)
Bobbi Brown Crystal Glitter Lipgloss (I could only find it on the US site, but the UK site has the non-glitter version, and I think shops have the glitter one).

I'd love to hear if you tried out this look, so if you did, please tweet or email me a picture!

Being Positive

(Photo from pinterest- edited- link)

Today I'm going to be doing a slightly different post to normal. This is going to be related to life, particularly how my life has been over the past couple of weeks. It will also have to be quite short because I've spent the whole evening revising, but I still wanted to get a post up. So today I'm going to talk to you about being positive.

Over the past few weeks, I've had revision for science mocks, and I've been getting very stressed, anxious and sad, as well as feeling very motivated at times and achieving things. So here's a list of ways to keep positive when the going gets tough.

1. Surround yourself with positive people. I can't stress how important it is to be around people who make you happy. I've had fake friends and friends who generally lower my self-esteem, and being around them has made me stressed and at one time, even contributed to my anxiety. Be around people who make you happy, and you will become a much more cheerful person. We all have our down days, but happy people always try to keep smiling.

2. Get away from the computer one evening a week. I say evening, but I mean whenever you aren't studying or working. I go to dancing 3 nights a week, and I genuinely benefit from getting out the house. Even if it's just out shopping or for a coffee with a friend, it will make you more positive.

3. Don't over stress things. Sometimes when we are stressed about work or school, we blow things out of proportion and get emotional, frustrated, and some people even become depressed or anxious. If you have to get something done by tomorrow, and it's 11pm at night, and you know it won't get done, then you should go to bed rather than stay up all night fretting.

4. Get a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast. Going to bed on time will make you feel refreshed and ready to start the day. Stop computer use an hour before bed, have a warm bath (showers will make you more awake believe it or not!), and go to bed. You could even read a book before hand. And in the morning, eat some breakfast including some fruit. Try it and see the difference.

5.Chill out and smile. Put on some music and dance or sing along, smile, laugh, do something you love. It will boost your happiness and make you feel so much better in life!

6. Make someone else's day. Think about the last thing someone did that made you happy. For me, it was a lovely email I received. It made me smile and I feel so positive. Now think about what you could do to make someone happy. Smile, hold a door open, ring a friend or family member, go and speak to a neighbour for half an hour. Do something that you know will be appreciated, and you will feel very happy about yourself. Your efforts won't go unnoticed.

I hope you enjoyed this, and that maybe you can take something away from this to make yourself feel positive.
